"The most critical part of the Investment Readiness process is the preparation of a suitable business plan, which has been written specifically with the intention of attracting interest to the proposal. Such a plan will emphasize the strengths of the opportunity, and present the investor with a clear and easily understood case that highlights the issues most relevant to an investment decision."

If a potential investment opportunity and its proponent, the entrepreneur, are better prepared, the chances of success in sourcing the required investment capital increase significantly. The Entrepreneurial Foundation of Saskatchewan works with entrepreneurs to assist them in the development or enhancement of their business plan. While the EFS does not prepare business plans, it will work with entrepreneurs to identify weaknesses in their plan and provide input and direction to improve the document and the underlying investment opportunity.

The EFS will typically review and provide its input and direction in such areas as:

• Overall structure and content within the business plan;
• Financial projections and assumptions;
• Market analysis and competition;
• Operations;
• Management;
• Risk analysis; and
• Sources and Uses of capital.

The Entrepreneurial Foundation of Saskatchewan has also developed a Capital Planning eTool.  This eTool has been designed to help entrepreneurs identify and deal with gaps in their businesses at all stages of development.  The Capital Planning eTool also outlines potential sources of financing that may be available to you once you have completed a stage of development and will assist you with developing a capital plan.
